TAOP Exercise: Control the strength of a colour
The object of this exercise was to demonstrate how the strength of a colour is directly effected by the exposure. Here i chose a lovely deep red armchair, I lit the chair with a 5000K continuous light and shot the following sequence. .3sec @ f4, f4.8, f5.6, f6.7, f8. The optimal exposure being f4.8 in this case.
The colour clearly deepens as we under-expose, we are introducing more shadow and blacks into the image, pixel by pixel and the effect is to take the colour overall from a light almost pink through to a deep blood red.
As a side observation, note the illusional effect of the crop, the 'buttons' or studs in the chair back look inverted if you stare long enough. This is as a result of there lighting effect I used, level t 45 degrees right front he subject. This angle draws out the detail of the pinned effect.
