The weather held out to be much better than I could have expected and I was able to put together a small series of photographs which I hope capture the essence of the place and show an element of grandure and peace.
I was very conscious of the light and very conscious that I needed to find opportunities to make photographs that put together much of what I have learned. I wanted each photograph to be about the light as much as the scene I captured. All work was made on the tripod in some cases graduated filters were applied.

Firstly we have the 'been there' shot. This cottage is photographed by all who pass and this is just my interpretation of it. The low bright sun was difficult to manage but I feel I got this accurately.
52mm, f8, 1/100 sec
Multiple exposure here, I used the technique to smooth both sky and water, not unlike a 10 stop ND would give.
70mm, f8, 1/80 sec
I love the way the sunlight just paints the one side of those trees. Highlighting them against the background which sits in shadow.
80mm, f8, 1/80 sec
Those beams onto the mountain side, wonderful. This is a crop from a much broader shot yet this crop brings in the interesting part of the frame, the rest added nothing.
35mm, f11, 1/750
This was a tough shot to make. I was in a Kayak on the water and had to drift, and steady myself to get the frame just right. Of course getting the horizon straight was the challenge. Pleased with it being a hand held shot however. Note I increased the shutter speed and ISO to reduce any record of camera movement.
26mm, f22, 1/30 sec
I guess this was what I was working toward, my best of the trip. I drove past this scene a few times but never felt the light was right. On the fourth occasion I stopped, and hiked out to the area, as I noticed occasionally the sunlight would wash the trees. I had to wait quite some time but it paid off when eventually I got want I wanted. Perfect tree lighting and not too much shadow on the mountain sides.
