Well, this will of course be the subject of some debate, particularly outside the world of Art or Photography. Why? well the simplicity and perhaps lack of any 'real' subject or content to the masses will be enough to get the 'its pointless' brigade going. You know and maybe a little while ago I too would have joined them, but now? hey I think I actually like it.
Here is a link to a fellow bloggers page which shows many examples and a little history on Mr gursky.

Thanks to Poul Webb for that.
Now I don't know much about Andreas Gursky, and I certainly didn't know of him before this news of there sale of his picture 'Rhine II" which reportedly fetched a record breaking £2.7 at auction. But that said, it doesn't matter, there is indeed something about this piece. Its minimalist, which I like, It cleverly utilises the Horizontal, which I like and it break a little rule of having the horizon cutting the middle of the shot, which I like! I like breaking rules.
After a little research, Im a fan, his use of line and symmetry really pleases, but are the shots worth the money? probably not but Im leaving that alone, the market does what the market wants I guess.
